Tonight we watched this video for fun as we talked about moving on past Christmas and Jesus' birth. Enjoy.
We then looked at Matthew 2 to see what happened after Jesus was born. We discussed three themes from the passage.
1. People will want to use you for their own desires.
Herod tried to manipulate the Wise Men for his own purposes. Are we aware of people who want to use us in our world? Do we ever use people?
2. It's okay to run from evil.
There are times to stand up and times to run form the situation. Joseph fled to protect his family and baby Jesus because it wasn't the right time to stand up. What evil exists in our world and culture that we need to avoid? There are times to stand up and times to flee.
3. God has a PLAN.
God used angels to tell Joseph when to move. They were alone in the world and needed guidance. Where do we go today to get our guidance so we know which direction to move (music, movies, tv, pop culture)? Where should we be going to(Bible, God in prayer, pastors, trusted wise mature christians who love you)?
