Worship Series Recap

It's been awhile since I posted any type of lesson recap.
But, I do feel they are important for several reasons:
1. Helpful reminder to you, the youth, on what we discussed so it makes a larger impact in your life
2. Keep parents informed
3. Help parents and youth have discussions on what we talk about on Wednesdays and Sundays

Last night we finished up our 4 week series looking at worship.
Here is a brief recap.

Week 1: We talked about why we should worship (Inform).
1. God Created you exactly as he wanted you to be.
2. God will never turn his back on you.
3. God cares for you as much as he does anyone in the world.
4. God listens every time you cry out to him.
5. God is a just God. He punishes and rewards based on our actions.
6. Jesus died for our sins to save us from hell.

Passages were read to support each reason.

Week 2: We looked at worship from 2 famous stories (Inspire Faith):
A. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
B. The story of Paul and Silas in Prison.
We learned from those stories that:
1. True worship can happen no matter where you are.
2. True worship should happen no matter the circumstances in our lives.
3. True worship happens when time is set aside for it.

Week 3: We discussed the difference between praise and worship (Initiate Worship).
We can praise many things, but we should only worship God.
Praise is for things that have been done (actions). Worship is for characteristics.
We looked at several passages that supported the differences between praise and worship.

The question was raised: Do we worship God enough? Or do we merely praise him most of the time?

Week 4: Last night we finished up our series by taking time to actually worship (Involve ourselves).
We participated in different types of prayers, prayer positions, and then reflected on the evening by journaling our answers to different questions. This journal was turned in and will be mailed to each student next week with additional direction for what to do next.

Background worship music during prayer and reflection, in order:
Charlie Hall - You are God
Chris Tomlin - Jesus Messiah
Jon Foreman (of Switchfoot) - Your Love is Strong
Charlie Hall - Mystery
David Crowder Band - Oh the Glory of it All, Remedy
