Did you not want to accept some of them? Why?
Were you excited about some of them? Why?
Were some of them unexpected?
We looked at a story of unexpected change in the Bible….
Acts9:1-2 - Saul is a persecutor of Christians
Acts 9:3-20 - Saul’s Conversion (Acts 13:9 - Saul aka Paul)
1. What type of things do you think were being said by Christians after Paul was converted?
2. What type of things do you think were being said by other persecutors of the Christian faith after Paul was converted?
Acts 9:21-31 - What does the passage say about these two previous questions?
1. Disciples were afraid of him and wouldn’t let him join (until Barnabas vouched for him)
2. They wanted to Kill Paul
Change can be difficult….based on the past life of Saul it was hard for some to accept him as Paul and as a follower of Christ, and he lost all his old friends….so I bet he felt somewhat alone at times.
Sometimes change doesn’t happen as fast as we want or how we want it.
But, change is happening here with our new building and youth room.
We also talked about our excitement, frustrations, and hope for the future!
While this change is happening we have to keep striving towards our original purpose and vision:
Connexion - All parts of our lives are pointed towards Christ
While where we meet and how we meet might change….why we meet and who we are won’t!
As we continue to look at momentum:
Last Week - Momentum will leave a taste in your mouth…make sure it is the flavor you want
This Week - Change in Momentum can give you a Fresh Start (Paul, new bldg)
We need patience, tolerance, cooperation, understanding…and excitement at the same time.
